Why This Reference Exists
North Carolina makes many public records accessible, but a person looking for a booking photo still has to identify the right custodian. The Chowan County Sheriff’s Office operates the Chowan County Detention Center and holds the county custody path. Edenton Police holds town incident and police-report information. The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction covers state prison, probation, parole, and related corrections records. The courts hold hearings and dispositions after booking.
Those systems are not interchangeable. The sheriff’s public detention page does not expose a searchable roster or booking-photo feed, so a written request and a phone check may be more useful than a name search. The pages here collect the official links and plain-language distinctions without copying faces or publishing a list of arrestees.
What the Pages Include
Chowan’s record path is organized around the sources that were located and the limits each source carries.
- The home page explains county booking records, the absent public roster, records requests, court dispositions, NCDAC, federal locators, and the state law path.
- Most Wanted Fugitives explains that no dedicated Chowan sheriff wanted page was verified and gives safe warrant and tip-routing information.
- Crime News describes Edenton Police releases, local reporting, regional coverage, and unofficial county pages that should be checked against official records.
- Edenton Busted Mugshots follows the town police report route into county detention and explains the town public-records portal.
What We Cannot Provide
This is a privately operated reference service. It is not affiliated with the Chowan County Sheriff’s Office, Edenton Police Department, the county, North Carolina courts, NCDAC, or any other government agency. It cannot release or transfer a person, confirm current custody, post bond, schedule a visit, or pull a record on someone’s behalf.
- Only the originating office can confirm current custody, a release, or a booking record.
- Only the court can provide the authoritative case disposition.
- Only a qualified legal professional can give advice about a warrant, expunction, or case.
- Phone numbers, addresses, fees, and systems can change, especially while jail plans develop, so verify details before acting.
A booking charge or photograph is an accusation, not a conviction. Verify the source and disposition with the responsible office.
Search-Partner Disclosure
Some search boxes on these pages are supplied by outside providers. Those providers set their own pricing, results, and data practices. If a visitor follows a paid referral, this site may receive a referral fee that helps support the reference service. The search partners are not government offices, and their results do not replace Chowan County records.
